Week 2 Day 5 - May 2 2008

As the rain was pouring down the team un-loaded the trailer and got ready for another day of riding. It was cold today, the kind of cold that stays with you long after you get off the bike. You try to fight back the cold by wearing a winter touque under your bike helmet, rain pants, rain jacket, and plastic bags in your shoes so your feet stay dry. I did all that and I still ended up soaked, cold, and tired. We still managed to start off our morning with a smile as we rode into Havelock P.S to a small but loud group of students hiding under shelter. We had a great time and the students presented us with a cheque that shattered their fundraising last year. Way to go !!!!!! It was a bone chilling ride to Cambellford to visit with the Flames. Talk about a school with spirit. Their student council did an amazing job with so many great events. I even learned how to DJ dances prior to the tour starting. We cut a few ponies, shaved a few heads (and mohawks) and learned who the champion 'Monkey Bike' racer was. The team was presented with a cheque for over $5,000.00 and they are not done yet. This is another school who shattered their last years total. Awesome job team !!!!!! We ended up our day at Hillcrest P.S for a short visit with a small school with a tonne of spirit. We had our signature head shave and a couple of rounds of ice cream eating. Good thing we were there at the end of the day because these students were pumped up and hyper when we left. We were very appreciative of a group of girls that stuck around after the show and let us know that we were the best assembly they have had all year adn how much they look forward to our visit. For that we say thank you girls, it means a lot to the team. 2 Weeks down and one to go !!!!
