Day 1 started off as a cold and drizzle filled day. Something we are getting very used to riding in. But once we arrived at our first school, Edmison Heights, the temperature in the gym sure heated up. The kids were dancing and jumping, it was awesome. We spent the morning shaving or cutting pony tails on over 20 students. The school raised an amazing $7,200.
From there it was off to St. Annes where we did some more dancing with the students. The team was presented with a great plaque filled with sponsors who helped Jacob raise over $2,500 last year.
Our third stop was at Armour Heights where we kicked off their fundraising campaign, the students are pumped and we can't wait to go back and see how they did. We may even be going for a bike ride with some of the students after the tour.
It was at this school that we were entertained by one of our own team members when he fell off his bike and then showed us he could hold his bike up in the air while lying on his back so he wouldn't scratch the new paint job.
And finally, our last stop was at RF Downey P.S and had a great time with the students. This is the first time back to RF Downey since 2005 and we were excited to return. The students were so excited, it was a great way to end our first day.
