Week 3 Day 2 - May 6 2008

Day 2 of the final week. Where has the time gone, it seems like the tour just started. Today was an awesome day for the team. We visited South Cramahe in Colbourne, Colbourne Public School and than took a drive back into Peterborough to visit Kenner Intermediate.

The weather was great, one of the few days we didn't have to wear rain gear. The team was well received by staff and students as they danced, cheered and tried to become the new ice cream eating champion.

Although we are away from work riding bicycles we are still police officers, and when needed we have to jump into action. That was exactly the case today when we were returning to Peterborough to visit Kenner Intermediate. The team came upon a serious motorcycle / car collision on highway 28 just seconds after it occurred.

12 police officers had to jump into action, helping the injured, directing traffic, and calling for assistance. I can only imagine what it looked like with 12 police officers in cycling gear running around taking control of the scene. After emergency personnel arrived in more appropriate clothing, the team was off again towards Peterborough.

We were fashionably late to Kenner Intermediate but that didn't stop us from putting on a great show. We had another collision once we arrived at the school, however it was between Keith Calderwood and the gymnasium floor as he went over the handlebars of a miniature bike. Luckily in both collisions today, nobody was seriously hurt.
