Another unpredictable day for weather. After breakfast at Subway, we started the day in Colborne, home of the Big Apple. The team had a short ride to Colborne Public School and the weather was nice enough for the kids to meet us outside as we rode in. The kids were pumped, even before we fed them ice cream at 9am. Nothing better than ice cream for breakfast, huh kids. The kids Olympic challenge seen three girls take gold, silver and bronze, but for the first time since the tour started the boys swept the ice cream eating contest taking all three spots on the podium. It was also nice seeing Nathan, one of our Special Friends we haven't seen in awhile.

While the show was happening inside our truck driver learned a valuable lesson, parking curbs are there for a reason, and when you drive over them it makes it very hard to get back out, especially when your towing a trailer. Great job Ian, you knew this would make it to the blog !!!
Once we were mobile again, it was off to Cobourg to visit two more schools, Merwin Greer & St. Michaels.
At Merwin Greer we watched as the students had to make the decision whether to dye their principals hair or shave it bald, they chose bald !!!! We were more than willing to help the students out. This was the second school of the day where the boys swept the ice cream eating contest. Gold, Silver & Bronze !!!!

It was also nice to see Mr & Mrs Heffernan again, they attended the school and presented us with a cheque from a fundraising dance they had in memory of their daughter Kim Hope. Marc and I had the honour of attending the dance a few weeks ago. Kim lost her battle with cancer but no matter how much she suffered thru the ordeal, she always cared about the kids who were going thru treatment. That is why Pedal For Hope will always remember Kim and thank her parents for allowing us to be part of their special night.

Our last school of the day was St. Michaels where we had one young student shave his head for the cause. Look at all the hair on the floor and Julie was only half done, he was needing a haircut for sure !!
From Cobourg it was a short ride to Port Hope to be ready for tomorrow's schools. As for my return to the bike seat, it was short lived. I rode about 10 km's towards cobourg in the morning but quickly realized that my ribs and stomach just aren't ready to return. I will take the rest of the week off and ride on Saturday, whether I am hurting or not, I will not miss the final ride in with our Special Friends!!!!
