Main Event Wrap Up

We have been blessed with great weather the entire tour.......until today.

This morning we started our ride in Milbrook and rode along Highway 115 towards Peterborough. As we got closer to our destination the sky was getting darker and darker. We arrived at Kawartha Heights Public School where all our Special Friends greeted us with cheering and waving.

As we prepared our Special Friends to ride the last kilometer with us on their new Canadian Tire bikes, the sky opened up and the rain poured down. We waited a bit and it seemed to blow over, so out on the road we went. It is a sight to see, police cars in front and back with lights flashing and sirens wailing. Twelve team members surrounding a group of kids as they rode down Lansdowne Street towards the former Saturn dealership.

The kids were smiling and waving at the passing cars as they honked their horns in encouragement. It couldn't be better until the weather suddenly changed.............

We experienced rain, snow and hail all in a 10 minute time frame, all while trying to get our special friends to their destination. It was cold, windy and wet. Surprisingly we never had one complaint, we have been saying it the entire tour, these kids have gone thru so much and never once complained, they are an inspiration to us all and today was no exception. As team members were cold, wet, and some even complaining of the weather, our Special Friends were smiling from ear to ear.

Once we arrived at our destination the kids quickly warmed up with hot chocolate and the Main Event festivities began. We are very thankful that family, friends, and co workers attended to show their support. During the event we shaved a few heads, showed our video and enjoyed the music of our very own police band F.O.G.

As the fundraising dollars continue to come in we are getting closer and closer to reaching the millionth dollar !!!!

Our Media & Sponsor Appreciation Night is scheduled for June 16th where we will be announcing our totals. Until than, we will all just have to wait. :)
